Learn a Little about Energy Efficiency

It’s safe to say that most people want to save energy (and money!), but those same conservation-minded people might not know what qualifies a heater or air conditioner “energy efficient”. To inform consumers about the energy efficiency of their products, air conditioning manufacturers like American Standard® use a rating system called SEER, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. Essentially, the higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the equipment is. In 2015 the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) changed the energy efficiency rules regarding SEER. Split systems in our southwestern region must now be 14 SEER and 12.2 EER. † American Standard® offers many heating and air conditioning products that are energy efficient, and meet the specifications established by the DOE — in fact, American Standard® offers many products that exceed ‘minimum standards’ and in fact set the industry standard!
